Learning agenda on hepatitis B birth dose vaccine delivery in Africa Insights and recommendations to improve timely administration Wednesday 4 March at 16:00–17:30 EAT | 14:00–15:30 CET | 8:00–9:30 EST Chronic hepatitis B affects 254 million people globally, with the highest burden in low‑ and middle‑income countries, especially in the WHO African Region. While WHO recommends giving the hepatitis B birth‑dose vaccine within 24 hours to prevent vertical transmission, many countries struggle to achieve timely coverage, particularly where a large share of births occur at home. In 2025, Gavi partnered with Unitaid and PATH to launch the Hepatitis B Birth Dose Learning Agenda. In this webinar, we will share insights from a mixed‑methods assessment in Ethiopia, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Uganda to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, cost, and impact of strategies to improve timely birth‑dose vaccination for infants born in both facility and community settings. Please join us to explore key findings from this work and hear insights from a diverse panel of country experts committed to eliminating vertical transmission of preventable diseases. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions during the live Q&A. Please register in advance: https://tinyurl.com/hepb-bd |
