DH Face-to-Face Meeting in Nairobi 2026 

On May 13-15, 2026, the Demand Hub convened its fourth global Face-to-Face meeting and brought together 65 global Vaccination Demand Hub partners and participants from 24 institutions and 9 countries - Sudan, Yemen, Syria, Haiti, CAR, Niger, South Sudan, Somalia and Kenya (host) - in Middle East, East Africa, West and Central Africa, and Latin America regions, in fragile and humanitarian (F&H) settings with a high number of zero dose children. The meeting took place in Nairobi and shared global updates on immunization demand, Gavi 6.0 and programme funding guidelines, contextual challenges for immunization in F&H settings, misinformation and information ecosystem, SBC costing and financing framework, and crafted tailored strategies with country teams to increase vaccine demand and uptake in F&H settings. Countries worked in their respective country teams and exchanged insights across the thematic groups during the three days and reported their state of demand, identified barriers, needs and priority areas of focus.

Technical Clinic on Community Engagement

The Community Engagement Workstream of the Demand Hub hosted a technical clinic focused on the sharing of latest updates and country practices on community engagement for immunization. This clinic showcased evidence-informed design, implementation, and data monitoring of Community Engagement initiatives in a diverse range of country contexts, and highlighted country examples from India, Madagascar, and Tanzania, in mobilizing and co-creating with the community to increase demand and uptake of vaccines. Additionally, global and country experts from Gavi, UNICEF, and CSOs engaged in a panel discussion to understand how to systematically reach and effectively engage with communities. Over 140 live participants joined this clinic from around the world.

Digital Workstream Technical Clinic Part II ‑ How to leverage AI to increase Vaccine Demand

This technical clinic focused on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to increase and promote vaccine demand, address hesitancy and misinformation management, with linkage to digital health interventions. Speakers included Eleni Linos and Isabella de Vere Hunt from Stanford Center for Digital Health, Sidd Goyal and Ben Bellows from Nivi, Lukas Borkowski from Viamo, and W. Douglas Evans from George Washington University. Over 120 participants attended this clinic from around the world.

WUENIC Data Sharing Poster

WUENIC Data Sharing with the Vaccination Demand Hub

This meeting convened the Demand Hub partners to disseminate key findings from the 2024 WHO and UNICEF estimates of national immunization coverage (WUENIC). Speakers included Naor Bar‑Zeev from WHO and George Mwinnyaa from UNICEF. The meeting discussed implications of WUENIC data for vaccine demand and explored barriers and opportunities to promote immunization demand and uptake.

The Service Experience Workstream hosted a two‑part webinar session that examined interventions designed to improve both the provider and the caregiver experience of care. Presentations featured insights from Tanzania, the Navajo Nation, Uttar Pradesh, Northern Nigeria, Kenya and a multi‑country study led by UNICEF. Over 110 participants from 23 countries participated.

Kathmandu Meeting Poster

Vaccination Demand Hub Meeting in Kathmandu 2024

The Demand Hub convened its third face‑to‑face global meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal, bringing together 83 partners and government counterparts from 9 countries in South Asia and East Asia & Pacific regions to discuss demand‑related enabling actions and identify opportunities for increasing demand and strengthening linkages between global, regional and country level work. Participants exchanged experiences around seven themes: zero‑dose and catch‑up, social behavioural data, HPV introduction, service experience, social listening, digital engagement, and SBC in fragile settings.

Demand Hub Technical Clinic – Malaria Vaccine Uptake

To support the rollout of malaria vaccines in 2024, this session provided an overview of strategies, tools, and guidance for demand planning and implementation. Topics included using behavioural data, interpersonal communication for health workers, community engagement, risk communication, and connecting malaria vaccination to primary health care and prevention efforts.

Comprehensive Training 

To address the issue of heterogeneous demand expertise at the country level and build a cadre of country demand experts at scale, a first-of-its-kind comprehensive training on ‘accelerating recovery of routine immunisation, reaching zero-dose children and promoting COVID-19 vaccine demand’ has been rolled out in June, 2022. This is a multi-agency (WHO – IVB and Infodemic Management, UNICEF, US CDC and GAVI) initiative under the umbrella of the Vaccination Demand Hub and is based on the latest innovative thinking in the demand space, and further supported by USAID, BBC Media Action, JSI, Sabin, and many other CSOs. The 4-week intensive training has a cohort of ~600 participants from 92 countries, and the curriculum is based on an interactive learning pedagogy consisting of lectures, simulation exercises and peer-to-peer engagement.
