Preparing for the rollout of WHO PQS Equipment Monitoring Systems: EMS-enabled cold chain equipment
This interim guidance is intended for national immunization, supply chain, engineering, and digital health teams involved in planning, procuring and managing cold chain equipment. It provides practical technical guidance to help countries understand the new WHO PQS EMS, why it matters, and how to prepare for phased introduction of EMS, complementing the forthcoming WHO/UNICEF Joint Statement. Further, the country guidance links directly to the UNICEF publication Strengthening Data Use for Cold Chain Performance Monitoring1 by highlighting key prerequisites for data-driven informed decision-making processes on cold chain performance and functionality.
