Ensuring future fit: Global health procurement and supply chains by 2040
A reliable and efficient end-to-end procurement and supply chain management ecosystem is crucial for the stability of global healthcare. It ensures the timely delivery of and equitable access to affordable,quality health products, including essential medicines, vaccines, and other health technologies, to communities globally.
The global health PSM ecosystem changes constantly, and ensuring its resilience and responsiveness to new situations, unforeseen challenges and disruption is crucial. Yet, safeguarding it is often overlooked by the main global health stakeholders.
Global healthcare is entering a new era driven by unprecedented transformation, such as climate change, shifting disease landscapes, demographic changes, social unrest, and political conflictsii are driving the urgent need for meaningful investment in PSM to address these challenges now and in the future. For example, greater investment in advanced technologies can offer real and attainable
opportunities to expand the global reach of healthcare and its underlying PSM ecosystem.
