Comprehensive Training: Get deployed and get useful
This training module, part of a series hosted by GAVI, WHO, UNICEF, and the US CDC, provides guidance for professionals deployed to support vaccine demand in-country. It highlights the unique challenges deployers face, including virtual deployments, unfamiliar environments, cultural and political complexities, and the chaotic nature of emergency responses. Key advice includes quickly becoming useful by understanding roles, delivering early wins, and proactively offering solutions when identifying problems. Deployers are encouraged to question assumptions, lead with empathy, and rely on robust data while remaining cautious in their conclusions. The importance of giving colleagues the benefit of the doubt, being realistic in strategy development, and documenting processes to aid long-term program success is emphasized. Ultimately, the guidance focuses on adaptability, cultural sensitivity, collaboration, and practical problem-solving to ensure effective contributions in complex health response settings.
