Olivier Ronveaux (mailto:[log in to unmask]) from Vaccine Assessment and
Monitoring at WHO reports on the request for comments on the Joint
Reporting Form on Vaccine-Preventable Diseases.

In general, the proposed indicator was considered to cover two different
questions (one for maintenance and one for replacement plan). Furthermore,
it was considered too static and not very informative. Out of the various
proposed alternatives, the following was selected for the WHO/UNICEF Joint
Reporting Form:
"Was there an updated* (2002) inventory (models, location, and age) of all
refrigeration equipment assigned for public immunization services in the
country?"
* updated: can refer to a new inventory or updates through regular reports.
We thank all the contributors to the discussion and look forward to see its
outcome in the WHO/UNICEF Joint Reporting Form. This selection does not
preclude the use of any other cold chain indicator at country level.
