The Big Catch-up: Case study of immunization activities in Bauchi and Rivers States, Nigeria
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted routine immunization services globally, leaving millions of children zero-dose (ZD) or under-immunized. To address the global decline in vaccination, the Big Catch-Up (BCU) aims to restore immunization coverage in 20 high-ZD burden countries, including Nigeria. This case study documented how BCU activities were planned, implemented, and monitored; examined approaches for institutionalizing catch-up vaccination; and identified factors contributing to persistent under-immunization in Bauchi and Rivers States, Nigeria.
