Pneumonia & diarrhea progress report: Reaching goals through action and innovation

The 2016 Pneumonia and Diarrhea Progress Report: Reaching Goals Through Action and Innovation is the seventh annual Progress Report, but the first in the era of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which follow the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that ended in 2015. The 17 SDGs have been agreed upon within the global community, with SDG 3’s (ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages) second target (3.2) focused on child survival and eighth target (3.8) focused on access to essential medicines and vaccines for all. With these new and ever more ambitious targets set, it is time to evaluate the progress made to date—noting achievements, highlighting lessons learned, drawing attention to unfinished business, and planning how to accelerate progress to address the challenges we must now face.
