Rabies elimination – the basics - Presentation slides
Dog-mediated human rabies is target for elimination by 2030. Elimination of rabies is contingent on a achieving universal access to rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) vaccination for people exposed to rabid dogs and sustaining dog rabies vaccination above 70%. It is estimated that 57,000 people die from rabies each year and most deaths are in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
This webinar presented you with the basics of rabies elimination and the One Health approach to rabies control. You will learn about new communication resources on rabies and the importance of educating children about the disease and vaccination of dogs. Further, it explained how countries can benefit from Gavi support and procure WHO pre-qualified human rabies PEP vaccine through UNICEF Supply Division. The presenters are from sub-Saharan Africa countries, WHO, UNICEF, Gavi, GARC and Mission Rabies.
The video recording of this webinar session is available in English and French.
