Resource Immunization Supply Chain Interventions to Enable Coverage and Equity in Urban Poor, Remote Rural and Conflict Settings
Purpose To provide guidance on the immunization supply chain strategies and interventions to address barriers to service access for zero-dose children in urban poor, remote rural and conflict-affected communities. It ultimately aims to enhance coverage and equity in the three most underserved community types.
Content Description of operational strategies and adaptations in terms of immunization supply chain implications, challenges and opportunities in urban poor, remote rural and conflict-affected communities. Content includes strategies specific for each community type as well as a description of cross cutting strategies. A brief description is also included of the implications of measuring immunization programme performance in terms of zero-dose children.
Expected outcomes (a) Enhanced coverage and equity in the three most underserved community types.
(b) Implementation of ISC interventions specific to the contexts of rural/remote, urban and conflict affected populations.
Strengths In addition to providing cross cutting strategies and interventions across different types of communities, the guidance also recommends strategies and interventions for remote/rural, urban and conflict settings specifically.
Contraints/Limitations Lack of clarity on target populations, difficulties of communication with marginalised populations, disruption to health systems, lack of political will and insecurity can affect implementation.
Why use it Published evidence demonstrates that supply chain interventions can significantly improve coverage.
Who should use it Immunization program managers, supply chain managers.
