Resource Universal Health Coverage monitoring – The Global Health Observatory
Purpose A source of information on global, regional and country level data on universal health coverage across the domains of Service Coverage, Financial Protection, Health Systems Strengthening, and Health Expenditure.
Content A source of information on global, regional and country level data on universal health coverage across the domains of Service Coverage, Financial Protection, Health Systems Strengthening, and Health Expenditure.
The UHC site provides country and regional data on service coverage, financial protection, health systems, health expenditures, as well as links to a health equity monitor. Findings for each country are also presented on an SDG UHC Service Coverage Index, which presents a summary coverage index for all countries that includes coverage of disadvantaged populations (with threshold value of 80). Country profiles of UHC are also available.
Expected outcomes Increased awareness amongst policy makers, planners, and EPI managers of the relationship between immunisation and UHC/SDG goals.
Strengths (a) The main strength of the data base is that it considers equity in the context of universal health coverage and the sustainable development goals.
(b) The data is easily accessible, trends in data are accessible, and country data can be visualised through global maps as well as country reports.
Contraints/Limitations (a) Data is being continually updated through GHO. Some of the data may rely on older survey data.
