Pakistan Vaccine Logistics Management Information System (vLMIS) Release 2 went Live this week: vLMIS release 2 is a single web based integrated platform for reporting Routine Immunization, VSSM, CCEM2 and SDMS software. The portal has below modules with respective dashboards, reports, graphs, and GIS web mapping features drill down capability and presentation of important KPIs designed to help decision makers for policy, management and operational governance and accountability Inventory Management This module provides online inventory management capability to Federal, Provincial, District and sub-district stores, where store keepers should enter daily stock receipt/issue transactions, maintain stock levels with lot/batch, expiry date and update Vaccine Vial Monitors (VVM) status information in the store. The module keeps track of issue/receipts from different stores at one location. It provides many warehouse management functions like physical tracking of stock with barcode in a store for placement and picking of stocks. Consumption Reporting (Routine Immunization) In this module, health facility cluster based users enters vaccine consumption data for Union Council on monthly basis. The user needs to enter vaccine consumption in doses with number of used vials; it provides consumption along the wastage of vaccines. Different users can view Reporting versus Wastage Rates nicely in tabular as well as graphical format and maps. Campaigns/SIA Modules This new module is based on the WHO/SDMS features with logistics linkages e.g., status of vaccine availability. The module is enriched with new features like adding campaign schedule, selection of district and vaccine. As the system is web based so it gives opportunity to show store issuing vaccine and consumption in Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIAs) on daily basis side by side on the dashboards. Cold Chain Equipment Management Module This module is a web based interface of UNICEF/PATH CCEM2 standalone application with all types of Cold Chain assets like refrigerator, freezer ILR, cold rooms, cold box, vaccines carriers, regulators and generators. It has additional features for asset management like searching, transfer and status update on regular basis. This module contains most frequently used reports related to cold chain capacity, shortages and working status. Systems Sustainability To make vLMIS sustainable, the release 2 has rich features of portal administration, which helps to maintain it with limited technical know-how. For the R2 enhancements, it is mostly developed in open source technologies like PHP with popular Zend framework and have MySQL database linkage through doctrine ORM. With ORM layer this portal can be shifted to any other database management system like Oracle or MS SQL with a little effort. vLMIS portal has complete technical documentation like SRS and database scheme for easy future enhancements.
