Delegates from Member States, United Nations and other intergovernmental organizations and nongovernmental organizations in official relations with WHO are in Geneva to attend the Sixty-seventh World Health Assembly that opens at the Palais des Nations at 09:30 on Monday, 19 May. Key agenda items for Health Assembly The World Health Assembly is WHO’s highest decision-making body and sets out the Organization’s policy and approves its Budget. Agenda issues for this year’s World Health Assembly (WHA) include: Draft global strategy and targets for tuberculosis prevention, care and control Global vaccine action plan Hepatitis Maternal, infant and young child nutrition Monitoring of the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals Health in the post-2015 development agenda Read the Provisional Agenda for the Sixty-seventh World Health Assembly. Address by Director-General The Director-General, Dr Margaret Chan, will address delegates at 14:30 on Monday, 19 May. This will be followed by the general discussion on the theme: “The link between climate and health”. Keynote speakers The invited speakers for this year’s Health Assembly – Dr Christine Kaseba-Sata, First Lady of Zambia and WHO Goodwill Ambassador against gender-based violence, and Ms Melinda Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation – will address the delegates on Tuesday, 22 May, at 14:30.
