Immunization @JSI - Building Equitable & Strong Health Systems #VaccinesWork

Immunization programs around the world have new and familiar challenges to preventing life-altering diseases. After focusing on COVID-19 vaccine programs for the past few years, countries now look to strengthen routine immunization and program recovery to prevent further backslides and outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. Whether for COVID-19 or routine childhood immunization, vaccines bring us closer to giving everyone a chance to pursue full, healthy lives. JSI is committed to helping countries build equitable and strong health systems that support people’s well-being. This edition includes highlights of our work.

Immunization Stories & Resources

Building Immunization Awareness for Adult Vaccination in Massachusetts

Building Immunization Awareness for Adult Vaccination in Massachusetts

The National Association of Health Services Executives is partnering with the Massachusetts Adult Immunization Coalition to create resources promoting vaccination among adults at high risk for several vaccine-preventable diseases. The resources will be distributed to partner organizations serving Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.

Service Experience Toolkit

Immunization service experience considers various components at the individual, community, facility, and system levels that influence whether a client has a positive immunization service experience. In partnership with Vaccination Demand Hub, JSI developed this toolkit to spark discussion on how immunization programs can improve the immunization delivery and service experience. Access the full toolkit and watch our 2-min video, “What is Immunization Service Experience?

Zero-Dose Webinar Series

This four-part webinar series, developed by The Zero-Dose Community of Practice, TechNet, and the Immunization Agenda 2030 working group on coverage and equity, features speakers and experiences from the country level. Our speakers share MIHR’s approach to immunization resilience in fragile settings, assessing immunization inequity among urban populations in Zimbabwe, and effective solutions to reach nomadic populations in Ethiopia, and learnings from JSI’s UI-FHS project.

COVID-19 SUPPORT

COVID-19 Vaccine Collaborative Supply Planning Initiative

The COVID-19 Vaccine Collaborative Supply Planning Initiative (VCSP) has developed an approach to triangulate and analyze information to create and maintain robust and agile supply plans to support decision-making. The VCSP works with partners in countries to implement a country-focused approach to support supply planning for the COVID-19 vaccination efforts.

“Standing Together” for COVID-19 Vaccines in the DRC

To help counter DRC’s low COVID-19 vaccination rates, the USAID MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity project and the DRC Expanded Programme on Immunization are making vaccinations more accessible to people. As a result, more than 24,000 people were vaccinated over a four-week period.

Getting COVID-19 Shots in Arms in Ghana

JSI’s USAID Care Continuum Project and Ghana Health Service kicked off a COVID-19 vaccination campaign to get shots in arms. They highlighted the protection the vaccine offers on Health Talk, a popular Ghanaian morning show. The biweekly TV program, accompanied by discussions on popular local radio stations, will continue for the next eight months to accelerate the delivery of more than 3 million vaccinations in the Western, Western North, and Ahafo Regions.
