The 4th GNN meeting will build on the NITAG support work plan developed by the GNN steering committee, which is aligned with the WHO Headquarters and Regional Offices strategy.

The GNN meeting will be conducted in conjunction with the ACIP meeting this year.


The aim of this GNN meeting is to:
•Review the Global NITAG Network activities and regional support to NITAGs.
•Strengthen NITAGs in their abilities to make evidence based policy decisions.
•Identify priority activities for the GNN and its global partners.

ACIP meeting:
Participants will observe ACIP workgroup presentations and NITAG deliberations. Facilitated discussions with ACIP Secretariat members regarding ACIP processes will also occur.

Please join the PATH Introducing Digital Immunization information systems: Exchange and Learning from Vietnam (IDEAL-Vietnam) project for a webinar on scaling-up electronic immunization information systems. The webinar will take place on Thursday, February 27th at 1pm CET.

During the webinar the presenters will discuss lessons learned from Vietnam of a successful scale-up of an electronic immunization registry (EIR) from pilot to nationwide application. Successful scale-up is not an easy feat, and the process of moving from small- to large-scale operations in Vietnam was due in part to from-the-start planning, key partnerships, government commitment, and sustained collaboration.

The webinar will highlight key facilitators and barriers, and focus on important partnerships that catalyzed the success of the scale-up process. Government commitment was quintessential to the accomplishments in Vietnam, therefore it is with great excitement that the presenters for this webinar will be:

- Dr. Huyen Dang, Vietnam National Expanded Program on Immunization (NEPI)

- Dr. Nga Nguyen Tuyet, Vietnam Country Director

- Sang Dao Dinh, Vietnam Project Officer.

The program is designed primarily with a focus to assist the countries/national health system programs to address the challenges in vaccine management thus ensuring access to quality vaccines in the immunization program. The program contents are as below

The fees cover tuition fees, training material, stay in air-conditioning room (twin-sharing basis), breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea/coffee during the program and pick-up and drop from Jaipur airport/railway station/bus stand. Welcome dinner and short-trip to historical and cultural importance places in Jaipur would be offered by the University in honor of the participants. Participants would be encouraged to use library facilities. Around the clock internet facility (Wi-Fi) is available for the participants. The travel tickets from the country of origin to Jaipur and vice versa are to be borne by the participant/sponsoring agency.

Early Bird Discount: Nominations received with payments on/before 4-weeks (23rd March 2020) will be entitled to an early bird discount of 10%.

Group Discount: Any organization sponsoring four or more participants to the program will be entitled for a discount of 20% on the total fee payable provided that at least four participants attend the program.

The workshop will address topics including measurement and improvement, the CDC Dashboard, clinical decision support, interoperability, and data quality and use. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from national experts on the latest developments in these areas and engage in interactive sessions and collaborative discussions with colleagues.

As the purpose of the workshop is to provide technical assistance and support for regional collaboration and development, IIS in the geographic region have been given priority for the available slots. The use of high-quality data is widely understood in the global health community to be a cornerstone of well-functioning health systems. However, despite continuous growth in the amount of health data available, the actual use of data in immunization program decision-making remains a challenge. Part of the challenge has been limited understanding of what tools and approaches actually are effective in increasing the use of immunization data to support improvements in vaccine delivery and access. The Immunization Data: Evidence for Action (IDEA) Review was undertaken to identify the existing evidence on what works to improve the use of immunization data, and to synthesize that evidence into actionable steps that implementers, policymakers and funders can take to design better data use interventions.

During this webinar, the presenters from PATH will share the methodology used to identify and review 549 pieces of evidence and five proven strategies to improve data use that were uncovered. They also will discuss the evidence gap map that was developed and how the global immunization community can work together to increase the quality of evidence available on best practices for data use to help further the work started by the IDEA team.

Resilient, high-performing immunization supply chains (iSCs) are the basis for strong primary health care systems and the foundation for reaching global immunization coverage and equity targets. Yet efficient and reliable transportation for immunization products still remains a challenge in many low and middle-income countries. New technologies, such as drones, have the potential to revolutionize traditional modes of transportation but how do you know if these technologies are the right fit for your context?

In this webinar, UPDWG and TechNet-21 will explore when integrating drones (or UAVs) into existing iSCs is feasible and how you can operationalize drones in existing immunization programs. UPDWG Members from UNICEF and VillageReach will share their experiences from Vanuatu and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in integrating drones transportation into the routine immunization supply chain. After the presentations, we will open the floor for a panel discussion with VillageReach DRC and former UNICEF Vanuatu staff.

Purpose of the event
The Global Vaccine Safety Summit is a 2-day event, from 2 to 3 December 2019, organized by the World Health Organization and held at the WHO's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

In the year that marks the 20th anniversary of the WHO’s Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS), the Global Vaccine Safety Summit will be an opportunity to take stock of GACVS accomplishments and look towards priorities for the next decade.

At the Summit, WHO will present the Global Vaccine Safety Blueprint 2.0 strategy 2021-2030 to key stakeholders and collect their input for the final version, due for publication in the new year.

Attendees
The Summit is meant for vaccine safety stakeholders from around the world, including current and former members of the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS), immunisation programme managers, national regulatory authorities, pharmacovigilance staff from all WHO regions, and representatives of UN agencies, academic institutions, umbrella organizations of pharmaceutical companies, technical partners, industry representatives and funding agencies.

Unless otherwise stipulated, all costs incurred in relation to participating at the summit will be at the participant’s own expense. Please refer to the Information Note for more details.

The Moth, the internationally-acclaimed organization dedicated to the art and craft of personal stories told live, is bringing two storytelling workshops to Nairobi, Kenya, in February 2020, in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Through its Global Community Program, The Moth conducts workshops with individuals around the world, elevating stories that highlight world issues, dissolve stereotypes, and bridge social divides. Guided by Moth instructors, workshop participants shape selected life experiences into well-crafted stories, which may then be presented to peers and to the world at large.

These workshops will be offered free of charge, and will be made available to a total of 24 people (12 per workshop). Accommodation, travel, and meals will be provided for all workshop participants. The schedule will be as follows:

Workshop #1:

Monday, February 3rd, 9 AM - 5 PM
Tuesday, February 4th, 9 AM - 5 PM
Wednesday, February 5th, 9 AM - 4 PM
Workshop #2:

Saturday, February 8th, 9 AM - 5 PM

Participants will arrive in Nairobi on the evening preceding the first day of the workshop, and will depart in the evening of the workshop's final day, or on the following day.

If you participate, you will:

be introduced to principles of personal narrative, developed by The Moth through its work with thousands of storytellers since its launch in 1997;
identify one personal story; and
receive one-on-one coaching to help craft your five-minute story.
Who should apply for this workshop: individuals who identify as people who help develop vaccines, help distribute or set up systems to deliver vaccines, people who have benefitted themselves from vaccines, or people who have family members or loved ones who have benefitted from vaccines. In addition, we strongly encourage advocates working in the areas of immunization to apply, but anyone is welcome to share a story about his/her work towards a world where we no longer fear infectious diseases.

Do you work with WHO PQS-prequalified cold chain equipment – refrigerators and freezers, cold boxes and vaccine carriers, coolant packs, and temperature monitoring devices? If so, you may be interested in the new Cold Chain Equipment (CCE) area of TechNet-21.org, which includes detailed information on all WHO PQS-prequalified products, including installation and maintenance guides, training resources, brochures, videos, photos, as well as product feedback from TechNet members.

Next month, TechNet will host a webinar on the new CCE area. We will explain how to use the new area, as well as how PQS manufacturers can manage the information and resources provided for their products. An update on the new WHO PQS website will also be provided.
